Orientation

Position and Orientation Tracking - What is the Difference?

Position Tracking
Determines the position of a given point in 3D space. Each point in virtual space is specified by three coordinates representing horizontal (x), vertical (y), and depth (z) components.

Orientation Tracking
Determines the angular rotation of an object about the x (pitch), y (yaw) and z (roll) axes.

Orientation Accuracy
1° in yaw, 0.4° in pitch & roll at 25°C

Orientation Update Rate
180 Hz with adjustable motion prediction

Orientation Minimum Latency
2 ms for RS-232 (PC host OS dependent)

WorldViz 6 DOF Optical Inertial Hybrid Tracking Solution
With the WorldViz 6 DOF hybrid solution you combine the best of two entirely different tracking concepts. While optical systems are the most precise, reliable, and cost effective solution for wide-area position tracking, inertial systems are the top choice for precision orientation tracking. The long proven WorldViz hybrid system brings these two worlds together, outperforming traditional systems that rely on only one technology. You will find no other affordable solution providing more stability and precision.
